Koh Phangan Restaurants and Cafes

Experience amazing cuisine and exotic drinks at any of the Koh Phangan restaurants and cafes. It is clearly evident that the restaurants, cafes and small eateries across the island have been influenced by all corners of the globe. Creating a diverse choice wherever you go. They offer unforgettable dishes for meat eaters, vegetarians, vegans and everyone else in between.

Food and drink is very much a sociable affair in Thailand and that tradition is evident here on Koh Phangan. Choose one of the many places to eat, set a time to meet friends and enjoy what the island has on offer.

North East

Thong Nai Pan is the main attraction on the North East coast. The two main beaches here are lined with luxury restaurants. Alongside the less expensive options. All offering a choice of fresh fish and meat BBQ’s as well as a mixture of Thai and Western style cuisine. There is an option for everyone. In the more remote areas, such as Bottle Beach and Haad Sadet, you may have less choice of places to eat. However the high quality food certainly doesn’t alter. Here you can escape the crowds and spend your day sampling the delights of Koh Phangan. While admiring the stunning scenery in more private surroundings.

North West

Many of the Koh Phangan restaurants in Chaloklum overlook the beautiful bay. Here you can watch the local fishermen come and go on their boats. With numerous restaurants serving freshly caught seafood, you’ll be in heaven here if you’re a fish lover.

Further west, Haad Khom and Mae Haad offer that more secluded setting. Perfect for those wishing to spend a romantic evening together in private. Haad Salad is small but caters for everyone. With family friendly restaurants situated right on the beach front, there is no need to arrange a formal sit down meal together. Why not let the kids continue to amuse themselves in the water whilst you watch them and enjoy more intimate time with a loved one. Most restaurants offer daily evening BBQ’s, traditional Thai dishes and Western style cuisine. You may even be entertained with fire shows as you eat.

Haad Yao is spacious and home to some large resorts, all of which offer comprehensive menus and competitively priced dishes. Quieter areas such as Sri Thanu and Haad Chao Phao have a good selection of cute cafés and small eateries. Most are situated off the main road rather than on the beach. Offering a wide range of dishes including Italian, Mexican, Thai and Western cuisine.

South East

Haad Rin and the nearby beaches provide a diverse choice when it comes to restaurants and small tucked away cafés. Although this is by comparison a much more built-up area. Some of the eateries are situated in quieter streets away from this bustling cosmopolitan area of Koh Phangan. There are also many less formal restaurants. You can set up your laptop or enjoy a movie on their TV whilst snacking on a light meal in the mid afternoon heat. Further round the east coast, Haad Yuan and Haad Tien are less populated and therefore the food options are fewer. You will however, find resorts that serve the normal Thai and western dishes. Also a selection of raw food dishes, believed by many to be exceptionally good for your health.

South West

This is without doubt the most diverse area for Koh Phangan restaurants and cafés. Numerous eateries line the streets of Thongsala, Baan Tai and Baan Kai. From the centre of Thongsala you can stroll around the streets and choose from a variety of places to eat. Don’t overlook the little corner cafés. These may not appear as opulent as some of the larger restaurants, but often serve some of the tastiest food around. Some of the more dominating establishments sit alongside shops and bars. Serving everything from freshly made German specialties and sweets to traditional English roast dinners.

Pantip Market, in the centre of Thongsala, always has a range of stalls set up in the afternoon serving a mixture of dishes. Marinated chicken or pork on a stick, perfectly made sushi, pancakes, BBQ fish and fresh fruit. Plus fish and chips, sandwiches, pizza and papaya salad are just a few of the options to sample here.

Along the main road through Baan Tai and Baan Kai, there are some high quality but affordable restaurants. Some situated on the waters edge, overlooking the ocean. Decorated with pretty colourful fairy lights and in the perfect location to watch the sunset. An evening meal would be a true delight at any one of the restaurants here.
